PROGRAMS

Each woman comes to Harvest Home with different goals and needs.
Our goal is to create a personalized pr
ogram aimed at developing each resident’s life skills
in preparation for independent living.

GOALS

Our Program uses a holistic approach focused on attaining success in three areas:
- Achieving financial self sufficiency by increasing employability through education;
- Developing life skills in parenting and infant care, career development, budgeting, time management, developing healthy relationships, household cleaning, cooking and shopping responsibilities.
- Finding spiritual wholeness through a relationship with Jesus Christ
   

Financial Self Sufficiency

- Residents choose an educational institution or program
  o Must learn a skill or earn a degree or certificate in an area with job opportunities
  o Must increase earning potential
  o Two Years maximum length
  o Minimum 20 hours per week or 12 units
   

Life Skills

- Residents are assigned daily household chores which must be completed by a set time and according to a set protocol;
  Residents attend compulsory, in-house classes such as:
  o Parenting and Baby Care
  o Child birthing
  o Budgeting
  o Developing Healthy Relationships
  o Health
  o Nutrition
  o Career Development
  o Sewing and Crafts
- Residents rotate dinner preparation including:
  o Choosing a healthy menu (lower fat, lower sodium and cooked from scratch)
  o Multiplying the recipe to feed 12 people
  o Making a grocery list
  o Going to the grocery store with a house manager
  o Preparing and serving the meal
  o Cleaning up

 Residents actively give back to the community through volunteerism. 
   

Spiritual Wholeness

  Residents meet weekly to discuss spiritual topics of their choosing
  Residents live in a Christian home environment
   

SERVICES

- Private room and board in a 9-bedroom home, staffed by a Director and two house managers 24 Hours per Day, 7 Days per Week.
- Local physician and hospital referrals.
- Professional counseling  by a licensed therapist
- Weekly case management meetings for setting  goals and  establishing small, attainable steps to reach each goal.
- In-house classes
- Matching savings program to assist in financial preparedness.
- Tuition Assistance
- Alumni follow-up
   

ADMISSIONS  (Printable)

   
Women are admitted to Harvest Home regardless of race, religion or nationality. Admission time is flexible but would preferably be during the first four months of pregnancy.
   
Admission Requirements:
- At least 18 years old
- Homeless and Pregnant (with proof of pregnancy)
- TB test dated within previous 6 months
- Free of drug and alcohol dependency for at least three months
-  Free of psychological illness
- Ability to adhere to house rules and share in household responsibilities
- Display an attitude of cooperation

Discharge Policy
   
Women are encouraged to stay through the duration of their pregnancy and for a transitional time after the baby is born. The length of time women are permitted to stay in the program post birth is made on a case by case basis depending on each woman’s needs and goals. The post birth stay is approximately three months. Harvest Home assists women in procuring transitional housing.

School  8 am to 12 pm
Crafts (monthly) 1 pm to 3 pm
Sewing 1 pm to 3 pm
Birthing 3 pm to 5 pm
Complete Assigned Household Chore by 5 pm
Alpha Group 7 pm to 9:30 pm

Friday
School 8am to 12 pm
Room Check 3 pm
Complete Assigned Household Chore by 5 pm
Cook Dinner for Family, Serve and Clean Up   4 pm to 8:30 pm
 

Saturday
Complete Assigned Household Chore by 5 pm

Sunday
No Responsibilities

Please note that not all classes run simultaneously but may be offered on a staggered schedule. 

Dinner is served Monday through Friday and is prepared by a different resident each night.
